ANWB Energie naturally rides on the brand recognition of ANWB itself. It does so in an original way: with a truly dynamic contract and a fixed monthly advance payment. ANWB is a name that inspires a lot of trust, but brand trust does not say everything. The ACM for example tightened its supervision in April 2026 after prolonged delays with annual and final bills. In June 2026 the large backlog had largely been cleared, but a remaining group was still waiting. The member benefit remains limited to the conditional Vriendenkorting. ANWB Energie is mainly interesting if a dynamic contract suits your usage and the total annual costs are competitive. This is not necessarily the case.

ANWB Energie's supply rates consist of the wholesale market price and a purchasing fee. In addition you pay fixed supply charges, government levies and grid operator charges. The grid operator charges are separate from the supplier. In 2026 the energy tax is € 0,11085 per kWh of electricity and € 0,72680 per m³ of gas, including VAT. A tax reduction of € 628,96 is credited per electricity connection. These government amounts are the same at every supplier.
ANWB does not charge a separate feed-in penalty. For solar power you receive the market price of the hour in which you feed back. That price can also be negative when there is an electricity surplus. Net metering is still possible up to and including 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027 you can no longer use net metering and for every kWh fed back you receive a compensation.

Switching to ANWB Energie
1. View the options
Customers find it very easy to switch to ANWB Energie. Always start by checking the end date and terms of your current contract. Only then will you know whether you can switch without a cancellation fee.
2. Sign up with ANWB Energie
Enter your address, usage and desired start date. For a switch at the same address, ANWB arranges the cancellation with your current supplier. Finally, you activate your account and check whether the smart meter is passing on data.
3. The switch is arranged
You have a 14 calendar day cooling-off period. A switch usually takes 2 to 6 weeks and supply is not interrupted during this period.
About ANWB Energie
ANWB started with dynamic energy in 2021, initially in partnership with EnergyZero. The supplier behind the current contract is ANWB Energie B.V. This company has held its own ACM licence for electricity and gas since 14 September 2022. ANWB Energie deliberately opts for dynamic energy contracts. With these you pay the wholesale market price of the moment, plus purchasing costs, government levies and fixed supply charges. The electricity price changes per hour or quarter-hour and the gas price per day. A smart meter is therefore mandatory. ANWB spreads the expected annual costs over twelve equal advance payments, which gives more peace of mind than a fluctuating monthly bill. According to the ‘Productvoorwaarden Dynamisch Elektriciteit & Gas’, a standard payment term of ten days applies. You do not need an ANWB membership to become a customer. As an ANWB member you can use the Vriendenkorting, but you do not automatically get a lower energy rate.
Member benefit: what does it give you?
According to ANWB, the energy contract itself has no lower standard rate for members. The main member benefit is the Vriendenkorting: if a customer you invited starts receiving supply and pays the first month, you both get € 30 off the annual bill. Only an ANWB member can invite friends. A basic membership costs € 17,75 per year in 2026. If you bring in one customer and became a member only for that reason, a net benefit of € 12,25 remains. Without a successful invitation, the membership does not give any separate energy benefit. Of course you do benefit from the other advantages of ANWB membership.
How green is ANWB Energie?
ANWB Energie supplies 100% certified green electricity from the Netherlands. According to the official electricity label for 2025, the electricity supplied consisted of 54.9% Dutch solar energy and 45.1% Dutch wind energy. The label states 0 grams of CO₂ emissions and no nuclear waste per kWh. The green origin is demonstrated administratively with certificates.
The dynamic contract can encourage you to use electricity when a lot of sun and wind is available. That is often cheaper and helps limit peak load on the grid. Even so, the energy contract as a whole is not fossil-free. The gas supplied is ordinary natural gas and ANWB offers no separate option for green or CO₂-offset gas within this contract.
What customers think of ANWB Energie
The older ratings in particular are strikingly positive about the rates and the insight into usage. The more recent reviews are a lot more critical. These critical reviews mainly concern the app, customer service and billing. ANWB Energie has indeed had problems with sending final and annual bills.
Often mentioned as a plus: the hourly prices are transparent and the app helps you to shift consumption to cheaper moments.
Also mentioned positively: signing up and switching go smoothly, while the fixed monthly advance payment ensures predictable payments.
The most frequently mentioned drawback: usage and feed-in data sometimes lag behind. When it comes to questions about advance payments and annual or final bills, customers experience the customer service as slow.
About the rates and offers reviewers are divided. Some customers save considerably, partly by shifting their usage. Yet others find the total saving smaller than expected. With a dynamic contract, the extra saving depends on the extent to which you can shift usage to cheaper hours. Even without changing your behaviour the rate can turn out favourable, but that is not guaranteed.
Is ANWB Energie cheap?
ANWB Energie is not automatically a cheap choice. The wholesale market price is the same at dynamic suppliers. ANWB therefore competes on purchasing costs, fixed costs and terms. Current comparisons show that other energy suppliers are often cheaper than ANWB Energie. So look at the offer at the top and compare the total annual amount with all offers. Certainly do not look only at the hourly price, because it does not tell the whole story.
Is ANWB Energie reliable?
ANWB Energie is a licensed and therefore reliable energy supplier. The brand has existed since 2021 and ANWB Energie B.V. has held official ACM licences for electricity and gas since 14 September 2022. However, its operations had demonstrable problems in 2026. In 2026 the ACM exercised extra supervision over delayed bills.
Is ANWB Energie sustainable?
ANWB Energie supplies certified green electricity from the Netherlands as standard. According to the 2025 electricity label, it came entirely from Dutch wind and sun. Gas remains natural gas and is not sustainable. The current offering has no separate option for green gas.
Does ANWB Energie have a good app?
The app is very functional, but the user experience is nevertheless inconsistent. You see all-in hourly prices, usage graphs, your actual price per kWh and m³, the interim balance and price alerts. Smarter features such as built-in control of home appliances are missing. Recent Android reviews mainly mention delayed or missing usage data. The iOS ratings are clearly more positive. It is not clear why this is.
How do I switch to ANWB Energie?
You sign up online and choose a start date. For a normal switch at the same address, ANWB cancels your old contract. Check yourself whether you are free of contract and whether your smart meter works. After your application a 14-day cooling-off period applies.
